[He stares into the cup for a while, clearly thinking on his answer.]

...Well. I'll admit that what Hades said and the implications of it weigh on me quite a bit. And... C came around yesterday. I got the feeling something's going on.

... One at a time then. What did C have to say?

He wanted to commission us for a bomb... particularly to make a copy of one, I believe. I don't know if you've spoken to him much, but he's quite hard to get a straight answer from... and so is Jason, who agreed to help him. But what I did get is that it's somehow connected to the plan of ending the Production.

Goodness.

[He sighs.]

What a dilemma. How do you feel about it?

[He shrugs.]

I admit, I'm not quite up to date on what everyone's doing in connection with the Production, Heaven and Hell. But I trust Jason's decisions here, so... I suppose we shall see. As for C himself... He looks to be an idealist of sorts. Not a bad person, but rather too chaotic.

Well, whatever mess they make is no concern of mine as long as they do not succeed.

Of more importance is how you are feeling.

[There's a noncommittal shrug at that first part. Maybe it's just fuckin around, maybe not. Who knows!]

Trying to distract myself, mainly. Lily and Alexander need my attention rather more right now. I've spoken of my suspicions and fears with some of my friends, so I am not entirely without support, nor do I want to panic preemptively. So I am simply keeping busy until Alexander is recovered enough that we can speak of all this. D.Va is teaching me to drive, I've bought a car, we had a meeting with Absinthe in dreams last night, I still have projects to work on. There is plenty to take my mind off things, but I won't deny that it worries me still.

[He takes a scone and slathers jam on it as Hythlodaeus talks.]

Tell me, are these distractions helping?

[He tips his head, sipping the tea for now.]

So far, yes. It's better than dwelling on it. But I can't guess how long they will keep helping.

This is there anything I might do in the interim?

[Hmmmm... He drums his fingers on the side of the cup.]

I... don't know. At the moment it's perhaps the uncertainty that weighs on me, but if what I suspect is indeed true it would be... quite a lot to contend with. I would possibly barricade myself in the lab again, or...

[He shrugs.]

...do something more destructive, perhaps. I won't deny I've been feeling more--restless, as it were.

[Do you see why we don't tell you things buddy.]

Would you like to speak with me on the topic, or wait until Alexander has recovered to speak with him? Either way I an sure the other of us will be available for any followup you have.

...I wonder. Ideally, I would want to speak with you both. Even if you were to tell me right now, I still come to see Alexander every other day. He would obviously notice that I'm affected by this, and that would just force him into a conversation on the topic when he's not yet ready. So I would prefer to wait, I believe. Like I said, I have support from other sources, so I am not in danger of crumbling anytime soon.

[It's not like they tried that fist.]

I will, don't worry. Mainly... right now I would ask you to look after Lily when I am not here. She's very fragile... we are doing all we can for her, but love and support from her fathers would go a long way to help her too, I believe.

[He takes a sip of tea, looking away at nothing thoughtfully.]

I am glad you have built up such a network of support, truly. Both for yourself and those you look after.

[And now he's going to steal a scone.]

Alexander asked me the other day if there is a unit I do not have friends on, and called me a troublemaker when I said there isn't.

Well. That is certainly what you have always been. A troublemaker. And a man prone to making friends.

Well, I do have to wonder what's so troublesome about me making friends! It's not exactly as though people I know really have anything bad to say about you two.

[Like there's also Absinthe but. Disliking Absinthe is street legal.]

Would it matter if they did? I hardly see that as relevant.

[He hums.]

Well, that's true enough. Jason hates Absinthe quite cordially, but that doesn't stop me from being good friends with both. But Alexander did say there is one person who he would feel unhappy about being friends with me, but he didn't say who it might be.

Hm. And if you know who they were, what would you do?

His concern was that I would run off to talk to them, but... I would first like to know why he's wary of them.
